Will Ethereum hard fork again?
Now that ETH is preparing for The Merge, there is a new hard fork expected - EthereumPoW (ETHW).
Today's popular Ethereum Mainnet (ETH) blockchain is a result of the hard fork after the 2016 DAO hack.
This hard fork resulted in 2 blockchains:
Ethereum Mainnet (ETH) and
Ethereum Classic (ETC).
Now that ETH is preparing for The Merge, there is a new hard fork expected - EthereumPoW (ETHW). ETHW is supported by Tron founder Justin Sun.
After The Merge, ETH will transition to proof-of-stake while ETHW will remain on proof-of-work.
IOUs of ETHW are currently priced at $ 29 with a 24-hour volume of $ 1.8 million.
ETHW is expected to copy the "state", dApps & liquidity of ETH.
At the start, ETH & ETHW would have the same circulating supply. After that, ETHW supply would grow much faster than ETH.
As an ETH holder, you can consider ETHW to be a free airdrop for you.
But I think ETHW will fail because of 4 reasons:
ETHW will not have the developers & user community of ETH.
DApps, stablecoin issuers & Oracles will not support or honor their commitments on ETHW.
Bots are expected to drain all the ETHW liquidity pools
Ethereum's in-built "difficulty bomb" would slowly make ETHW mining unfeasible.
What's your take on ETHW?
